- 정상프리온단백질이 변형되어 변형 프리온을 형성하 고 변형된 프리온이 정상프리온과 만나 정상프리온까지도 변형프리온으로 변형시킨다. 감염된 host와 정상인 host 사이에서 mRNA가 동일하다.
experiment(실험)적 증거
1966년: Alper라는 과학자는 UV를 이용한 experiment(실험)에서 감염성이 있는 물질은 virus보다도 크기가 작다는 사실 밝힘.
1992년: Kellings는 highly purified scrapie 감염물질에서 nucleic acid를 검출하는데 실패하였다.
